Let's Meet Our 2009 Canada Games TeamCoaches:
Head Coach: Russell Martin (Regina)
Russell played competitive ball in the Lashburn area and won a gold medal at Canadians with his Midget team.  He was also a 1993 Canada Games Team Member that won Gold.  Russell has been a Softball Saskatchewan’s Course Conductor and skills clinician for over 9 years.  As for coaching Russell coached Midget A & Junior A girl’s team in the Regina Ladies League off and on over the last 8 years.  He coached two of his teams to the Canadian Championships.  He was the Head Coach for the 2003 Western Canada Games Girls team & 2005 Canada Games Girls Team.  Russell was also an evaluator/instructor at the last 2 ID camps.

Assistant Coach: Jen Wood (Regina)
Jen Wood as a player has attended 8 Canadian Championships from Midget to Senior, winning a Gold Medal in 2000.  Jen was also a skills clinician for Softball Saskatchewan before making her big jump into assistant coaching for our 2003 Western Canada Games Girls team and 2005 Canada Summer Games team.

Assistant Coach: Marla Laskowski (Warman)
A new comer to the program Marla Laskowski is a wife and mother of 4 children, and in her spare time, she is a substitute teacher.  Her softball experience began with the 1989 Canada Games team.  She then went on to participate in 4 Junior Canadians - with the highlight being named all-star catcher in 1991- and 2 Senior Canadian Championships.  As for coaching experience she started off with squirt girls in Warman for 2 years and 1 year of peewee boys.  Marla has continued to be a part of softball throughout the years as a Softball Saskatchewan’s Course Conductor as well as provided countless Learn to Play Orientations and Basic and Advanced Skills camps.  Marla was also an evaluator/instructor for the past year's Western Canada Games team as well as for the current Canada games team tryouts. Her passion continues to be in coaching young girls/women, however this last summer she coached a very young squirt boys team and had a very successful year finishing with a silver medal at B provincials.
